It contains three separate items. Item 1: a hard back book Vision of Japan, 11.75 X 8.5 inches approx, fine coloured pictorial laminated boards, illustrated endpapers, no inscriptions, not paginated, a printed guide to the exhibition containing essays from a number of contributers. Item 2 : Familiarity and unfamiliarity, with laminated coloured pictorial boards (hardback) to the front and at the rear the interior being a series of coloured images that fold out as a giant concertina of Japanese photography, very striking and colourful, loose inside the folder is a separate leaflet with text by Peter Popham photographs by Kijuro Yahagi, this gives the key to what the images are. Item 3: consists of coloured pictorial slip-case, with the words Peace and cigarettes appearing with 'Visions of Japan,' measuring 11.75 x 8.5 inches approx., within the slip-case is a folder or 'Scrapbook' of artwork, 28 full page coloured images, most of these images have tipped-on additions relating to what they portray, things like samples of materials, tickets and packaging each referring to the particular Japanese product or way of life that is being depicted. For instance sheet no. 21 is a poster dedicated to Peace cigarettes a brand that emerged in Japan shortly after World War II this is explained in a printed leaflet which is also included inside the folder, this is by Peter Popham and gives 'Captions to Scrapbook.'
