1st British edn. Second edition stated, assume this includes the American 1st which was published 25 days earlier. Hardback, no d/w. 300pp + 8pp publishers list. Illustrated by 12 b/w plates, including tissue-guarded frontispiece, by Maurice Greffenhagen and J Sullivan. Red cloth boards with black titles and illustration to front and gilt titles and black illustration to spine. Minor bumps to spine extrems. Top edge of text block brown, lower edge untrimmed. Scattered foxing to leading edge and prelims. Minor tear at gathering of plate facing page130. Overall a VG+ uninscribed copy with bright sharp boards and clean, tight and bright within. Rare in this condition. Contains probably Jacobs's most famous tale "The Monkey's Paw". (Book ref. 3446)  £50.00
