The book has the bookplate of John Carnell on the front pastedown and on the front endpaper is the inscription 'Best regards to Ted Carnell - L Sprague de Camp' Edward John Carnell known as John or Ted, was a significant player in developing science fiction authors. He edited 'New Worlds' in 1946 and again from 1949- to 1963. He also edited Science Fantasy from the 1950's. He was credited with starting the careers of J.G Ballard, Brian Aldiss, James White and Michael Moorcock amongst many others. A very significant figure in the Science Fiction world, this is a unique Association copy.
