Spine with 5 raised bands, gilt decorated compartments and original red leather title label. Marbled endpapers a,d matching page edges. Fine engraved armorial bookplate for "John Henry Arthur Whitley" and motto: "Live To Live". Neat dedication to front free-endpaper: Henry F. Whitley from his sincere friend William H. Willats on his leaving Eton, Easter, 1858." Light brown spotting to endpapers, otherwise clean English text throughout. A very good copy.
