AUTOGRAPH LETTER: GEORGE III TO THE BISHOP OF WORCESTER .: A copy of the King's letter to the Bishop of Worcester. , 1797 .Single sheet, 9" x 7.5". neat handwritten manuscript. The back blank except for short note: "George Third Letter to the Bp. of Worcester", and light soiling to creases. By this time George was an unpopular King and in fear of assassination. Full text reads: "My dear good Bishop, It has been thought by some of my friends, that it will be neccessary to remove my family, should I be under so painful a necessity, I do not know where I could place them with so much satisfaction to myself, and under providence with so much security, as with yourself and my friends at Worcester. It does not appear to be probable, that there will be any occasion for it; for I do not think the unhappy man, who threatens us will dare to venture himself among us; neither do I wish you to make any preparation for us; but I thought it right to give you this intimation. Remains My dear good Bishop George." (Book ref. 37089) £150.00 The payment methods accepted by the seller, Beckham Books Ltd , are shown in the right-hand column. |
