Batten), soiled and rubbed. Professionally rebacked and corners strengthened. Complete with half title, frontispiece by J. D. Batten, printed title and 16 full-page plates (some folding) as listed. A few blemishes to endpapers and browning to free-endpapers, otherwise clean text throughout. Previous owner's signature to front free-endpaper: "Ernest E. Adams". A well preserved copy of a scarce book, especially with the frontis intact. ** Ernest E. Adams is listed as a "solicitor's clerk" in the 1891-1901 census and is also listed as the compiler of : Accounts & records concerning the charities of Long Melford, Suffolk, published in Sudbury in 1896.
