Illustrated with a coloured frontis of a brass in St. Mary Key Church; coloured town plan for the Ipswich in 1850; 14 engraved plates; a fold out chart of Ipswich Charities; and 2 vignette illustrations in the text. Note to front endpaper: "This book like some two hundred others in my collection has been specially bound, or re-bound, to preserve the content in as good condition possible in perpetuity... Throughout the 17th/18th October, 1987, a most awful storm raged continiously across South-eastern portion of the United Kingdom. Winds reaching 110 miles per hour damaged and destroted everything in its wake... To commemorate this awful event, a special book was produced, housed within the Ipswich Museum, bound in this leather, depicting the bark of trees. Leather taken from this special skin was used to re-bind this most valuable and rare book about Ipswich. Dennis H. N. Sellers, December, 1987." Brown textured calf over brown cloth covered boards. Gilt title to front board. Red leather title labels to smoth spine. Bookplate to verso of the front board: "Dennis H. N. Sellers". Full-page printed note (signed by Sellers) laid-down to endpaper. Previous owners details to front free-endpaper. There are about 100 additional leaves inserted within the book, of which 55 have neat handwritten notes, drawings, or newspaper cuttings laid-down. A little toning to page edges otherwise clean text throughout with many interesting additions. A well preserved book.
