First edition. Small 4to., [2pp.]/pp.9/[7pp.]/pp.300 . A very good original green cloth binding, blind stamp decoration and bright gilt titles to spine. Edges rubbed and bumped, top & tail of the spine carefully strengthened. Yellow endpapers. Illustrated bookplate to the verso of the front board: "Ex Libris Dudley W. Collings." Plus, a small bookseller's label also to the verso of the front board: "Sold by John Stacy, Bookseller, Norwich." Half title with colophon to verso: "Ipswich: Printed by R. Root, Cornhill." Clean engraved frontispiece by Orlando Jewitt, printed title; 'Preface.' also dated 1839, illustrated with five other plates, two vignettes and a building plan after drawings by Samuel Read. Some light spotting within the text, plus browning to the last few leaves. A very good copy of a scarce book. (Book ref. 37545)  £150.00
