First edition in a very good half calf binding. Title continues: "Giving an account of every Town and Village in the Western Division of the County, a description of every Church (whether now used or in ruins), and a short account of the old Castles, Monasteries, Halls, and other Buildings. Also containing allusions to all the chief historical events with which this very interesting part of East Anglia is associated, and notes on the family history, and acrhaeological discoveries in the district. - 566 Illustrations of the different places mentioned in the letterpress. Many of these views have been specially produced, at great expense, to render the work more attractive, complete, and up-to-date." - 4to. Tan calf spine and corners over brown buckram boards. Spine with 5 raised bands, simple gilt decoration and gilt titles. Bound by F. T. Groom, Bury St. Edmunds (small lilac coloured label to recto of the rear board). A very good tight binding, with just a little light rubbing to the edges. Brown endpapers, light foxing to free-endpapers, otherwise clean text and illustrations throughout. A very good book. 11" x 8.75" x 1.5", [4pp.]/pp.411, illustrated throughout with black & white images, plus 2 full page plates (both of Bury St. Edmunds). N.B.
