HMSO Cmd 5479.: Palestine Royal Commission Report. , London: HMSO July 1937.The Royal Commission report [led by Lord Peel], was a well-resourced survey of the long-standing problems in Mandate Palestine, and contains the first formal and reluctant suggestion that these may be solved only by division of the land between Jews and Arabs. This suggested division of land was rejected by Whitehall [Cmd5634], although the principle was accepted, and a second Commission [Cmd5854] was assigned to examine further proposals. This has been rebound more robustly in hard cover using the original blue card covers. It includes 404pp, 1 map in the text, 8 good maps in a pocket in the back cover, 4 appendices and a graph of population trends. No underlining or other marks, apart from a small signature on the front cover. An excellent copy.
