WEIZMANN, Chaim.: Memorandum Submitted to the Royal Commission. , London: Jewish Agency, 1975 [reprint from 1936].This book is Chaim Weizmann's paper as presented to the Royal Commission, for inclusion in their considerations. It covers in great detail the work done by the Zionist movement to develop the land, and their grievances that are outstanding, particularly Arab violence and the failure or reluctance of the Jerusalem government to protect Jewish interests, including making it illegal for Jews to bear arms even in self protection, whereas Arabs seem to have freedom to carry arms. Limitations on immigration, restriction of Arab land sales to Jews, etc. When contrasted with the services provided by the Zionist movement but normally the government such as drainage, anti-mosquito work, medical services for Arabs, it gives a strong basis for complaint. All complaints are carefully documented and sourced. This is a hard-back reprint of the 1936 edition, two small US Library of Congress stamps, no other markings. 288pp, 5 appendices, good index, generally an excellent book. (Book ref. 38332) £60.00 The payment methods accepted by the seller, Beckham Books Ltd , are shown in the right-hand column. |
