Pascal's arguments, presented as letters, in defence of Jansenism. A classic of early French prose. In two volumes. TEXT IN FRENCH. Full tree calf binding with some decorative gilt to board edges and spine. Volume 1 has totally lost the surface of the spine. The spine of volume 2 is very worn with titles gone and decoration only just visible. Leather is rubbed and scuffed. Bumped to corners. Some browning to page edges. Previous owner's name in ink to one prelim. Marbled endpapers. Marbled to all page edges. Volume 1 retains its ribbon bookmark. Still sound though binding is poor decoratively.
