First (& 0nly?) Edition. Decorated Cloth. Good/No d/w. Hardback, 102mm x 167mm tall (4" x 6.5" approx.). Pp (iv), 160 with a title-page engraved vignette, plus a tissue-guarded frontispiece and 80 further fine steel-engraved plates, mainly by T. Dixon, each with a four-line explanatory verse. Rubs to edges and corners and occasional internal spotting, the volume has been neatly recased with new endpapers, in the original blind & gilt-decorated blue cloth-covered boards/gilt spine title/all edges gilt. With the exception of one plate leaf which, through having been detached prior to the recasing, is more heavily browned with an old water stain and the loss of a small piece of the lower blank free corner, the contents are sound, and the quality of the steel-engravings excellent.
