Pp (xii), 294, + b/w photo frontispiece plate and 15pp of plates, with a total of 31 further b/w photographs, plus, in a pocket to the rear board, 2 multi-folding maps. Label removal marks to the front endpapers and spine foot, and the neat embossed stamp impression of the University of Keele to the lower blank margin of the title leaf. Signature of a previous owner, one W.F. Westbrook to the front free endpaper, otherwise very good. Contemporary quarter white parchment/orange cloth-covered boards/(faded) spine title. Uncommon.
