anon Complete Pictures of Eight Noble Steeds. , pub China. Pre.1850.

First edition. Brown silk boards with concertina folding pages. There are 10 hand coloured watercolours on silk. The first watercolour is of the collection of steeds, the second is of the heads of the eight riders; then follow the riders on each of the steeds. The names of the steeds are Piebald, Bay Rabbit, Imperial Yellow, Snow Flake, Rainbow, Moon Dragon, Peach Blossom and Date Wonders. The owners are Hsiang Chi, Kuang Yu, Chin Kiung, Hsuch Jen-kuei, Kuo Tse-yi, Ti Ch'ing, Han Shih Chung and Yao .Scans available. Very good copy (Book ref. 16242)  £140.00
