An early issue with most of the first issue faults: chapter XXVII listed I on the contents page as p.283 not 282; "recal" on page 16 line 1 and page 225 line 22; "cha pter ;ut" is on page 19, "coroboration" is on line 387 line 6 from the bottom; quotation marks are absent at the end of 13 lines from the bottom of page 472. Bound in original green cloth with the spine underlayed i.e. the original spine remounted. There is a faint circular mark n the rear cover. The underlay shows a little. There is as usual foxing on many illustrations. The needle(stab) holes are present, evidence that this issue was intended for printing in parts. The half title is present. A scarce item with the original blind stamp cloth. Scans available. Nr. Good/VeryGood. (Book ref. 16380)  £700.00
