(19cm. tall x 12cm.). pp. ii, 356. plus 2pp. publisher's advert. Engraved portrait frontispiece. The first leaf is a testimony by Professor Arnold Guyot of Princeton College. In this he recognises the importance of this first translation of Ritter's work into English. In the original heavy black cloth covered boards. These are heavily blind stamped with the publisher's "G & L" logo as medallion centrepieces. The spine is blind stamped and carries the title and publisher's name in gilt. The gilt is very slightly dulled. There are two very small nicks on the head of the spine and a similar one at the tail. This apart a near fine copy without inscriptions.
