These include his Excise Permit and a folding manuscript Excise Return. Waddell a renowned Minister and scholar was a keen Burnsian. He delivered a famous eulogy in Burns Cottage on the Centenary of the poet's birth in 1859. He was keenly interested in the Scots Tongue and in 1871 published his "The Psalms frae Hebrew intil Scots." This careful and comprehensive edition does creit to poet and editor. The set is bound in red cloth over bevelled boards. The front boards and spines carry gilt and blind stamped decoration. The back boards are decorated in blind. The spines are faded, the boards a trifle soiled. Signature "s" in vol. II. is loose. In all a near very good sound set. (Book ref. 4714)  £235.00
