New Edn. Large 8vo. (25cm. tall x 16cm.). 5 volumes in 9 divisions. Volume 5, a supplemental volume, is edited by The Rev. Thos. Thomson. Pagination is :- 579, 604, 575, 496, 668. The pages are uncut and to a large extent unopened. There are 87 tissue guarded engraved portraits and 5 engraved extra titles. This complete set is uniformly bound in the publisher's original brown cloth. The Crests of the Scottish Universities are embossed in gilt as a centrepiece to the elaborately blind stamped borders of the front boards. The spines are gilt lettered between a gilt thistle and floral border. The spines are slightly dulled. There is a little light dampspotting to the back boards of divisions I & VI. Division V has a small split to the base of the front hinge. The contents are clean, sound and very good. (Book ref. 5508)  £175.00
