Full-Leather. Good+. Volume 1 only (This Edition was published in 4 Volumes). Illustrated with 4 Copperplates, elegantly engraved. (The whole set would have a total of 16). Book commences with a "Life of Cervantes" by T. Smollet (27 Pages), Translator's Note (1 Page), Preface (8 Pages), then the story begins and the pages (starting from 3) run up to 292, end of the first volume. Contemporary full leather binding with gilt lines, vol. no. and dark red label with gilt title to spine. 6 1/2" Tall. Some wear to leather, corners quite worn and fine splits down spine sides, though the hinges are pretty sound. Old previous owner's name on endpaper. Some light browning to a few pages.
