Paul Nicholls was a journeyman jockey for eight National Hunt seasons and rode 119 winners. He went into racehorse training in the 1991/92 season. In1998/99 his horses won 110 races earning £1,192,566. He was the main competitor to Martin Pipe and was second to him seven times.
