The top two-year-olds included Petingo, Sir Ivor and Vaguely Noble. Vaguely Noble's owner Major Lionel Holliday died and the horse was sold as he was unable to run in English Classic races. He was trained for the Prix de L Arc De Triomphe and won it. Mind you the three-year-olds were'nt bad either. Royal Palace, Ribocco and Hopeful Venture. Lester Piggott was the champion jockey with Australian's Ron Hutchinson and Scobie Breasley the runners-up. Noel Murless was champion trainer with Sir Gordon Richards and R Johnson-Houghton the runners-up. The leading sires of the thoroughbreds was Ballymoss, Ribot and Crepello. Book - Nr Fine.
