1947 was the start of really competitive horse racing in the UK following the end of WW2. Phil Bull rated the racehorses according to time. Taking into account the different race distances, the racecourses and the going. Amongst the two-year-olds there were two extremely speedy colts. They were The Cobbler and My Babu. Other fast horses were Black Tarquin, Djerid , Masaka.and Queenpot. The speediest three-year-olds were Tudor Minstrel, Migoli, Sayajirao and Chanteur 11. Tudor Minstrel was so fast the 2,000 Guineas was won before half-way and he was given a speed rating of 1.74 fast. Book and Covers-- previous owners details on the front pastedown o/w Near Fine.
