First Edition (First Impression). Cloth. Very Good. 2 letters from Hazlitt relating to the book are tipped in. At rear are 7pp of notes on Devon proverbs that are written by John Shelley (the recipient of the letters) whose bookplate is on the front pastedown. There are quite a few few additional handwritten entries by Shelley that are neatly written in ink, predominantly in the bottom margin. The original boards are bumped to spine ends and corners but are otherwise clean. The rear inner hinge is cracked but the book is holding firm. Large 8vo. 1/350.
