This book is the first volume in the series `Studies in Anglesey History ' to be published by the Anglesey Antiquarian Society and deals with the period of the early Industrial Revolution in Anglesey. It contains an account of the copper industry of Parys Mountin between 1750 and 1850, tracing the rise and decline of Anglesey's greatest mineral industry - an industry which dominated the world market for copper for many years. The book pays particular attention to the social and economic changes which resulted from the discovery of copper on the mountain and relates the discovery to the Industrial Revolution in other parts of Britain and to the copper industry abroad. The author has relied on manuscript sources for much of his information but, although the book is based on many years of academic research, it is also intended for the layman as well as the student or scholar.
