Benham and Company Limited Benhams' book of printing types. , Colchester: Benham and Company, 1960.Hard Cover. Very Good/No DJ. Crown 4to Presentation copy with letter included from BENHAM AND COMPANY LIMITED Printers in Colchester since 1852. The letter reads, "We have pleasure in sending you a copy of our new type book and hope you will find it useful. It contains a lot more typographic material, and a lot more technical information, than its predecessor. The demand for work in foreign languages seems to be increasing, and our equipment now includes facilities for setting in Russian. Translation can be undertaken when required. As will be seen from the type book, we hold an unusually complete range of equipment for keyboard composition in Monotype "Ehrhardt", a type which merits careful consideration for sales and technical catalogues. It looks well on glossy paper, is economical of space, and helps to give an interesting individuality to any job for which it is used. The exhibition we held this month in Colchester served to show, among other things, how the value of the printed word and picture can be increased by good types, good design, and good workmanship. I hope this book will be a reminder of the availability of these resources at Colchester. Managing Director November 1960." 39pp. + 13pp.[samples], spiral bound in original brown cloth lettered in white, clean and tight.
