Cresci, unlike many-writing masters of his time, knew that geometric methods could not recreate the traditional letter forms of the Trajan column and Cresci's capitals represented the traditional letters in their original vitality. This facsimile is made from a fine copy of the 1578 edition. It is accompanied by a translation of the text and an introduction by A. S. Osley.
