Realising that there are certain parts of this country which have a special appeal to all naturalists and lovers of the country, the Editors* of the New Naturalist have planned a series of regional volumes. It would be wrong to describe these volumes as guide books in the ordinary sense, but it is intended that they will direct the visitor's attention to, and arouse his interest in the whole range of phenomena, natural and manmade, that together constitute the appeal of the regions. ;here are many tracts, some of which at least are likely to become National Parks in the near future, which lend themselves in this way to consideration as regions of special interest and which will form the subjects of volumes in the series. In arranging for the preparation of the first volume on a National Park Region, Snowdonia, the Editors have had in mind that the interests of visitors to this area will range from geology and scenery to the plant and animal life, and to the manifestations of the activities of man and the innumerable fascinating reminders of his work in the past. All these aspects are dealt with and fully illustrated in the volume. * James Fisher, M.A.; John Gilmour, M.A.; Julian Huxley, M.A., D.Sc., .F.R.S.; L.
