Marks (dust?) on back cover. 176pp. From d/j flap - " In 1921 the author went to the State of Dewas Senior in Central India, and was private secretary to the Maharajah, and then as a clerk of works to a partly built New Palace, was subjected to an Official Insult, and one of the few Europeans who took part in the eight-day festival of Gokul Ashtami. Years later, came catastrophe - the bankruptcy of the State, the flight of the Ruler and in 1937 his death in destitution at Ponicherry."
