From 'Foreword' How some far-sighted and public-spirited individuals, realised there was a need for a large and modern general hospital as a centre, and secondly, that it should be a teaching hospital, and that a well-equipped medical school should be close by. The author tells of the origin of this scheme, of the troubles met and overcome, and of the formation of the 'Hospitals Centre'. He also tells of the completion so far as practicable of the great modern hospital now called the 'Queen Elizabeth'; of the Nuffield Nurses' Home; and of the Medical School.
