Some rubbing on the sides of spine, raised bands, spine ends and outer corner edges. Most of the pages are foxed and also the free endpapers. Paper is partly torn along hinge inside front board, and webbing is showing for about two-thirds of hinge between front free endpapers, but the book is tight and there is no looseness. On title-page under the name George Herbert the dates 1593-1633 has been neatly written in biro. 256pp. With 43 black-and-white illustrations in the text designed by Birket Foster, John Clayton and H.N.
