First edition (hardback). 8vo, xii, 340pp. Several (at least 11) chromolithographic plates, plus numerous text illustrations. Original decorated red cloth, gilt titling to the front board and the spine, all edges gilt. Formerly in Chelsea Reference Library, with their book plate to the front pastedown and small stamps to the margins of the plates. There is some wear to the spine (head and foot chipped, upper joint repaired), and the binding is shaken. Overall, this copy is in fair to good condition. (Book ref. 16576)  £30.00
