The set lacks all the maps, but all the plates are present (17 in vol 1, 16 in vol 2, 35 in vol 3, 27 in vol 4). Uniformly bound in contemporary half brown calf, marbled paper-covered boards, gilt titling to the spines. There is a 1-inch piece of leather missing from the centre of the spine of volume 1, a few of the joints are beginning to crack (but all are holding), a couple of title pages are creased and there is some minor spotting of the preliminary pages.
