SCOTT (G.G).: Remarks on Secular & Domestic Architecture Present & Future. ATTRACTIVE COPY IN PERIOD BINDING , John Murray, 1857

8vo., First Edition, with engraved title-vignette and title in red and black, small neat signature on blank preliminary; attractively bound in contemporary green half roan, marbled boards, back with five raised bands ruled in gilt, second compartment lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments elaborately tooled and ruled in gilt, marbled edges, marbled endpapers, very neatly recased, a remarkably well-preserved, bright, crisp, fresh copy. The original edition of Scott's determined argument for Gothic as a style for more than ecclesiastical architecture. Considerably scarcer than the second edition of the following year. A lovely copy in attractive period binding. (Book ref. 19563)  £140.00
