8vo., First Edition, with a frontispiece, 70 plates on 34 and a large folding map, neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper; original terracotta cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in unclipped d/w, the latter lightly frayed at extremities. The 'auto' in question is a 18HP Wolseley; the route travelled is from France to South Africa via Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, the Sudan and so down through East Africa to Durban.
