vi+84 pp. dark green boards. Foreword by S. C. Hall. John W. Montgomery was the husband of Mary Jane who died on 17th May 1896. He gave a lecture at the Downpatrick Literary Society 27th June 1872 and died 4th June 1911. In 1900 he was living at Victoria Terrace Downpatrick. At the time he published this collection he was Clerk of Downpatrick Board of Guardians (1886). There are poems on Castleward, RathKeltair, the railway, Ardglass, Telegraphing, Mr and Mrs S.C. Hall, the South Downs, Enniskillen, Masonic, town clock jottings, and the like. Boards are scuffed and faded, the spine is relaid, internally signs of use dustiness and odd marking, a small ink annotation on the bottom of the title page. Very scarce item of Downpatrick interest.
