(6) 398 pp. bound in contemporary calf, blind ruling, six panelled spine with raised bands and original spine label. Title page with text in black and red lining. Engraved woodblock headpiece and a few decorated capitals. There is some very old, but minor, annotation and pen lining. The bottom 4.5 cms of the title page has been neatly cut off but at some point has had a new strip laid down to replace it. this title page has several old signatures, and some lightish staining. At some point a very fine stilletto type blade has been stabbed into the book leaving a closed tear of 1cm through the first 200 pages. There is no loss, and it does not affect readibility, it sounds much worse than it actually is. The text block is otherwise tight clean and satisfactory.
