One of the illustrations is signed but the name is difficult to read clearly. In heavy dark maroon bevelled boards with blind stamping and attractive gilt decoration to front board and spine. Rubbing to spine extremities and spine faded, a.e.g. binding threatening to split at page 80 but holding. Ortherwise good. The author was born in Limerick in 1835 and died in 1868. She wrote three novels, The Foster Brothers of Doon, The Golden Hills and The Manuscript Man or The Bible in Ireland. She was interested in evangelisation, and all three books are essentially written from that perspective. Scarce item of Limerick interest.
