On Sat. last he made an ascension in his balloon from Lancaster, and alighted between 8 and 9 at Baltimore. A crowd gathered round him with torches and as the gas was escaping from the balloon it came into contact with the light, when the whole exploded, destroying aerostat, clothes and instruments, and shockingly injuring Mr Wise himself. Hopes are entertained of his recovery." - "Mrs Graham made another ascent in her balloon from Bayswater on Tuesday, accompanied by Capt. Currie and ultimately descended in safety in a field in Eltham in Kent. Mrs Graham, after describing the pleasures of her voyage says, "I am happy in being able to state that a new era in the science of aerostation has nearly arrived and that shortly it will become a source of utility as well as pleasure." - One wonders what her Bayswater neighbours thought of her balloon and her ascending with a gentleman who was not her husband, shocking?
