Volume 1 only out of two vols. viii+464 pp. professionally rebound in cloth with new endpapers, gilt spine titling and lining and a new black and gilt spine label. In very good condition. The two dissertations are, first on the authenticity of the history contained in the Pentateuch, and in the book of Josua; the second proving that the books ascribed to Moses were actually written by him, and that he wrote them by divine inspiration. Jamieson, 1759-1838 was a Scottish Minister, lexicographer, philologist and antiquary. He was best known for his magisterial Etymological Dictionary of the Scottish Language.
