Vol. I, lix+448 pp. Vol. II, ii+482 pp. Vol. III, xxxv+412 pp. Vol. IV, iv+544 pp. Professionally rebound in half leather and marbled boards, new endpapers, gilt ruling, lettering and new spine labels, internally very good, tight, bright copies, in very good condition, a printed label for William Wingfield Newcombe is pasted to the front pastedowns of the first three volumes whilst there is a remnent of a crested bookplate on a flyleaf of vol. IV. All have the written name of Revd. Arthur Newcombe, Abbeyleix Glebe, on front endpapers. The book was first published in 1789, and this is a scarce set. Campbell, 1719-1796, was a Scottish Presbyterian Theologian, a Professor and Principal of Marischal College Aberdeen. His critical and explanatory notes add to the work's value. As an authority on Rhetoric Campbell offers many memorable passages throughout. (Book ref. 13142)  £295.00
