Illustrated, many full page, and some double page illustrations, maps. Professionally bound in green cloth, with gilt lining and titling, new endpapers. This is a very heavy item with postage implications. The illustrations are splendid. Features include The Russo-Turkish War and the Treaty of Berlin, death of Italian King, demplition of Temple Bar, extra supplement on Cleopatra's Needle, with coloured illustration of its proposed location outside Parliament, another special number, 40pp, maps, illustrations of, Stanley in Africa, death of Pius IX, election of Leo XIII, the British Fleet in the Dardanelles, Kaffir War, Greek insurection in Thessaly, Loss of HMS Eurydice with 300 men, Paris Exhibition Supplement, Riots in the Cotton districts Blackburn, Burnley etc, and much more. It is particulary good on the Russian-turkish war in Bulgaria. A few pages torn at bottom margin with no loss, one page tape repaired, a child has put a few pencil scribbles on a few pages, a few others have some patches of colouring in, otherwise in very good condition.
