Postcard, Ireland, Belfast

Postcard: Ireland, Belfast. , Phillips, Belfast, 1906.

One real-photographic card, 9 1/2 cm x 13 cms, the reverse printed in purple with the words "POST CARD" separated by a logo, over the words "Phillips, Photographer, Belfast" and "For address only". Written on the back are the words "1906 Maria Boyd", and, in a modern hand, "The first electric tram to ply for hire in Belfast, at Queen's University". The photograph is a splendid record of municipal exuberance, with tram No 66, including the trolly-boom, festooned with electric lamps, with the monogram BCT high on the front and the City's motto on the modesty boards. The railings round the upper-deck are extended upwards for several feet with arches of lamps and branches of greenery. (Book ref. 2483)  £40.00
