First Edition of Iris Murdoch's first novel.Ownership name to front free endpaper else a Good copy with a spine that is slightly cocked and which has browning to the page edges in a dustwrapper that has seen better days.It is missing the top quarter,including the title,of the front cover,which also has two small pieces missing from the bottom of the panel.There is a small piece missing from the head and foot of the spine (although there is no loss of lettering,and the rear panel is heavily chipped near the head of the spine,again with no loss of lettering.
