Two volumes, large thick 8vo, well illustrated with well over 200 wood engavings throughout the text, pp xxxvi, 504; xxiv, 643, fore-edges lightly uncut, decorated cloth, stamped in gilt and silver, bevelled edges, a little worn overall, the edges, corners and joints rubbed, lower joint of second volume splitting slightly at the head, a little foxing to the title pages and the frontispieces. [With the book label of W.A. Harding of Madingley, a short autograph letter from the author dated 1865 is loosely attached to the front endpaper, there is also a letter dated 1958 from Martin Wedgwood loosely inserted.] Very heavy - extra postage may be necessary.
