Dark red buckram with design in gold to front board. 100 copies were in mulberry red morocco and 370 copies in dark red buckram. Christopher Sandford writes: "The colours in the title page were reduced from three to two, and the subtitles and initials throughout the book were all printed in maroon. The initials used were wood-letters engraved by Eric Gill that I had inherited from Robert Gibbings when I hade taken over the Press; and my use of the splendid cockerels by J.B. W. on title-page and cover were there to prove that this friend was still alive with me - if alas! only in spirit - to the end of my printing career.
