2nd ed., pp.319. Orig. blue cloth, with the publishers named as Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. at foot of spine. A couple of leaves carelessly opened but largely unopened. This edition has its own preface, from which it is clear that the reissue of 1889, as a Christmas Book, of a translation first published in 1859, was a great success, hence the new edition. There are four appendices, Appendix A consisting of a bibliographical account of all the known editions at the time. NSTC does not in fact list the 1889 edition, only that of 1890.
