MACKENZIE (Kenneth R.H.), ed.: The Marvellous Adventures and Rare Conceits of Master Tyll Owlglass, Newly Collected, Chronicled, and Set Forth in our English Tongue, and adorned with many most diverting and cunning devices by Alfred Crowquill. A New Edition. , London: Trübner & Co., 1890;2nd ed., pp.319. Orig. blue cloth, with the publishers named as Paul, Trench, Trübner & Co. at foot of spine. A couple of leaves carelessly opened but largely unopened. This edition has its own preface, from which it is clear that the reissue of 1889, as a Christmas Book, of a translation first published in 1859, was a great success, hence the new edition. There are four appendices, Appendix A consisting of a bibliographical account of all the known editions at the time. NSTC does not in fact list the 1889 edition, only that of 1890. (Book ref. 1941) £55.00 The payment methods accepted by the seller, Nineteenth Century Books , are shown in the right-hand column. |
