Orig. brown cloth gilt, w. vignette of the author writing under a bridge, a.e.g. Rebacked with new endpapers and orig. spine laid on, lacking 3 cm at foot and 1 cm at head, corners worn but stitching and hinges all sound and tight. As so often occurs the plate paper has foxed, sometimes affecting the printed surface, but the text pages are clean. A spaciously printed book with good margins, and despite the occasional foxing Bartlett's views of the Valley of the Susquehannah show his radiant command of vast landscapes.
