Engr. portrait frontis.Orig. brown blind-stamped cloth w. silver design of florin (recto and verso) on fr. cover, by Pugin, repeating the engr. design on title-page, numerous engr. plates and illus. in body of text. Orig. yellow end-papers. A wide strip of cream-coloured paper has been pasted to the front and rear paste-down. Paper browned and silver tarnished. Front edge of spine beginning to wear with closed slits, but still a good copy. The concept of the florin (ten to the £) was a first step towards the decimalization of 117 years later!
