Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 5¾" - 6'' Tall 0340222131 This is a Very Good Copy of this hardcover Book in brown cloth with gilt title lettering to spine in a Very Good Dust-Jacket that has one small closed tear to the top edge of the upper cover.Not price clipped.This copy was acquired from the private personal collection of Bill Towill a former brave serving Chindit who after the harrowing experiences of Dunkirk was sent out to India and commissioned into the 9th Gurkha Rifles,serving with their 3rd Battalion in India,in the Arakan (Burma) in 1942/43 in Northern Burma with the Chindits in 1944,in Java and also Malaya during 1945/46.There are some passages highlighted and some underlining in places within the book and to the page margins with pencil notes.The book has a firm binding with no hinge weakness.There is a handwritten note from Bill to a Jimmy pasted onto the front endpaper which reads nicely and begins ''as a momento of some stirring days we spent togeather long ago when we were very young and thge note goes on to say what a wonderful picture of Jimmy Blakar following page 224! truly age shall not weary them nor the years condemn'' Lovely copy with this rather personal and note to an obvious friend and former comrade in arms.8vo 304pp First Edition 1st Impression (Book ref. 62669) £25.00 The payment methods accepted by the seller, Richard Thornton Books , are shown in the right-hand column. |
